about
PILOT LIGHT'S ON: The story begins with the Long Count. A song cycle with visuals by artist Matthew Ritchie and music by Aaron & Bryce Dessner. I join them on a few of the songs. Notably, a song called Bull Run. A performance of the Long Count was scheduled to coincide with the completion of Matthew's year long residency at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, January 2015
THE LOBBY: Matthew encouraged me to create additional music for The Lobby of the ICA and introduced me to Evan Ziporyn-a Professor of Music at MIT. Using the song Bull Run to riff from, Evan sent me a few tracks of bass clarinet that he recorded in his greenhouse on his iPhone
THE PURPLES HOUSE: I then went to the purple house of King Baby Nuxhall. He looped up the clarinet for me to play with.
TASCAM DPS-8
I recorded various sewing machine noises, some organ tracks and added vocals. Matthew sent some lyrical scribblings for me to rummage through and also sent me a recording of a handball game played by world champion handballers.
SUNFIRE: Back to the Purples House- KBN turned the clarinet into low end love, put the pieces together and arranged the track you have here with some help from his dusty crates and Kelley's self produced vocal. Then we sent it of to Matt Boynton at Vacation Island Recording, Brooklyn for mixing in October 2016. Enjoy!

This electro-rock project from a member of Feeble Little Horse is an unexpected blend of noisy guitars and glitchy live drums. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 14, 2023
Stark, slightly spooky songs from this Asheville musician, with guitars as bare as winter trees and eerie, distant vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 16, 2021
